Autumn roses wet with dew

October is going to be over.
Throughout October, daytime has been sunny and warm like early summer
while I've turned on heater mornings and evenings.
Tiny drops of water form on cool surfaces of roses at night.
One morning I enjoyed quiet time photographing roses wet with dew.

Dew disappeared as the sun moved higher.

Also on the leaves of roses, there were glinting dew.
These are close-ups through my lens.

I showed a tiny leaf perfectly fringed by waterdrops in my garden
in the last post, Raindrops.
This time, rose leaves covered with droplets of dew.

"Let your life lightly dance on the edges of Time
like dew on the tip of a leaf."
(Rabindranath Tagore)

In the Rose Garden of Ryosenji Temple, autumn roses are flowering fragrantly
though not so spectacular as the spring bloom due to the small number.

Happy Halloween!

  1. These close ups of raindrops are pure magic, stardust! Sometimes it seems we are like the dewdrops given a short time to shine until we dissolve into something else. Happy Halloween to you and your grandchildren, too!

  8. Some more beautiful sparkling jewels courtesy mother nature, but beautifully captured by you. We are having an unseasonably warm autumn here - the flowers and animals are confused. My rose bush is covered in buds, the hedgehogs and dormice are totally confused as it is too warm for them hibernate, and my Locquat tree is covered in blossom!!!

  12. Yoko - thanks for your recent comment on my blog post. I took a blogging break while we were in the UK, and now I am back and catching up on everyone's posts. As I have written many times before, your photography is simply amazing. I am drawn into the photos, and awed by the wonder of something as "ordinary" as dew. (Of course, it is anything but ordinary - it is such an important source of water for the entire ecosystem.)

  14. Roses in October - it would be magical to see and smell them. We have had snow on the ground since mid-October. Yesterday, Bob spread wildflower seeds for me - I look forward to seeing if they sprout in the spring. I like seeing your sweet granddaughter.
